Missionary Training School Teacher

The role is based out of Atlanta, GA.

This teaching position will be particularly attractive to women and men who have a passion to engage with students whose primary life focus is on serving the Lord in full-time overseas ministries. The purpose of the Atlanta based position is to equip and train women and men for cross-cultural service in other countries. You, as their teacher, will challenge students with in-classroom instruction in the mornings and provide oversight of community outreach with them in the afternoons. You will also be stimulated by assisting the students with life-on-life discipleship and mentoring. This ministry and teaching role is full-time. Support-raising is required. The Missionary Training School Teacher has the ability to work onsite and from home on a regular basis.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare relevant and insightful lessons for each module based on the MTS curriculum
  • Instruct in-person classroom sessions (video discussions, book discussions, Bible studies, and activities) for the Missionary Training School (MTS)
  • Invite and coordinate guest speakers from partner organizations to share or teach
  • Grade papers and reading assignments and send students grades regularly
  • Coordinate with other GFM staff to provide feedback on student growth
  • Participate in team meetings, staff worship and staff meetings, staff reports, and Slack check ins
  • Stay informed of the needs and opportunities within GFM and in the community

Qualifications

  • Must personally embrace GFM’s purpose, vision, values, and statement of faith
  • Must identify as a maturing believer in Jesus Christ with a high view of Scripture (2 Tim 3:16-17; Col 3:16-17)
  • Must demonstrate humility, teachability, and an ability to work well with others (Eph 4:15)
  • Must display advanced interpersonal relational skills and be dedicated to peacemaking (Heb 10:24-25)
  • Must function well both independently and in a team environment (1 Cor 12:25-26)
  • Must be able use or learn internal communications and technology systems (Email, Google Drive, Slack, etc.)
  • Must be prepared to experience significant missions training and discipleship through GFM’s Missionary Training School (in person sessions or online) as well as continuing education
  • If not licensed or ordained, the candidate must be willing to be licensed as a minister of the Gospel
  • Must have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: teaching, cross-cultural work, and community outreach; long-term missions experience with unreached people groups is preferred
  • A college degree is preferred but not required; informal trainings in management, organization, leadership, and/or ministry are also acceptable
